On October 1, 2016, the Fondaco dei Tedeschi reopened its doors to the public, effectively returning to its former function as a place dedicated to international trade but at the same time not losing sight of the Venetian community that hosts it.

The major restorations by Rem Koolhaas have in fact redefined the building, allowing everyone to linger in the center of the court, to admire Venice from a privileged position or to discover the ancient traces of merchants on the different floors. This is combined with the interior design by Jamie Fobert, who reinterprets Venetian colors, shapes and materials by combining the ancient and the modern.

Today, Fondaco dei Tedeschi proposes itself as a meeting and exchange point between cultures and people from all over the world. Located in the center of the city, the Fondaco not only maintains close relationships with the most important cultural institutions in the city, but above all offers a real holistic experience that starts from the boutiques and reaches a wide artistic offer of concerts, book presentations and exhibitions in its Event Pavilion on the fourth floor.
