Starting on September 9, the new exhibition "TIZIANO 1508: The Beginning of a Luminous Career" opens at the Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice.
A journey consisting of 17 authenticated works by Tiziano and other paintings, engravings, and drawings by his contemporaries (such as Giorgione, Sebastiano del Piombo, and Dürer) will reveal to visitors the extraordinary abilities of the young Tiziano in assimilating diverse cultural elements to shape the future language of Venetian art, of which he would be an authentic master.
It was precisely in 1508 that the young painter from Cadore created his first public works, among which stands out the fresco decoration of the walls of the Fondaco dei Tedeschi, of which only a few fragments of frescoes remain, including "Judith," which was once placed right above the entrance door to the building.
The exhibition will feature works by artists associated with the Fondaco, foremost among them Giorgione with the famous "Nude," as well as Sebastiano del Piombo, whose mysterious "Saint Sinibaldo" adorned the organ shutters of the Church of San Bartolomeo, and the German Dürer, who was not only artistically but also culturally connected to the many merchants who worked at the Fondaco dei Tedeschi.
The exhibition will be open for visitors until December 3 at the Gallerie dell'Accademia in Venice.
